Dear Nana Ampadu:

It was just by chance that I searched for your name on youtube and bingo, most of your original hits came up. I spent this whole weekend listening to those great hits.

I entered secondary school the year your first hit Agyaka Dabre was released, and have followed your music closely. In fact, most of my old school mates still call me Africo because of my love for African Brothers sounds. The only time I broke my school rule was in 1971 when I escaped to the Ho cinema hall to watch the African Brothers Band. OD and co. staged Aku Sika after the music session.  Then I was in Takoradi to continue my education where I escaped to watch you on two occasions.

The last time I watched your group was when I was at KNUST at Prempeh Assembly Hall I think in 1974/75 when most of the old members came to play before the late Snr. Eddie Donkor left to work on his own band.

Finally, I was the young man who came to your house to arrange in 1974/75 for you to come over to play at University Hall at KNUST but finally had to cancel it because we did not have enough votes to have you come over.

Thanks for the good work you have done for indigenous Ghanaian highlife music. May God bless you and your family.

Dr. Gyamerah
